Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 19, 2026

This policy explains the information FixWise processes when you browse the site, sign in, or use account features.

Information We Collect

Account information: If you sign in with Google, our authentication provider processes your login and provides account details such as your email address, name, and provider avatar. Your email address is not part of your public profile.

Profile and activity: We store the profile fields you choose, articles and comments you submit, follows, bookmarks, feedback, reading progress, earned badges, notification state, and moderation records needed to operate those features. Your username, display name, avatar, bio, published articles, selected title, and displayed badges may be public.

Technical data: Our hosting and database providers may process request metadata such as IP address, browser information, timestamps, and error logs. Public API rate limiting stores a one-way hash derived from network information rather than the raw value in the application database.

Browser storage: FixWise uses authentication storage and local browser storage for signed-in sessions, cached profile and dashboard data, local article drafts, feed caches, and optional device-region recommendations. Region recommendations are inferred in your browser from its locale or time zone; FixWise does not send your IP address to a third-party geolocation service for this feature. Clearing site data signs you out and removes those local drafts and caches.

How We Use Information

  • To provide and maintain our website
  • To provide account, publishing, community, and reading-progress features
  • To secure the service, enforce permissions, and limit abuse
  • To review content and investigate technical issues
  • To respond to inquiries you send us

Third-Party Services

FixWise uses Supabase for authentication, database, Edge Functions, and storage; Vercel for website hosting and delivery; and Google when you choose Google sign-in. Email delivery may be handled by a configured transactional provider when the site sends account or moderation messages. These providers process data under their own terms and privacy commitments. We do not sell personal information.

Public and Private Information

Published articles, approved comments, usernames, display names, public avatars, bios, public contribution totals, follower and following lists, selected titles, and earned badges may be visible without signing in. Bookmarks, reading history, private notification state, drafts, account email, authentication data, and private preferences are limited to the signed-in account or authorized service operations.

Retention and Deletion

Retention follows the purpose of each record rather than one indefinite period:

RecordRetention logic
Account and private profileKept while the account is active, then removed or de-identified after a verified deletion request except where a limited record is required for security, fraud prevention, disputes, or law.
Drafts and local cachesServer drafts remain until deleted or the account is deleted. Browser-only drafts and caches remain on that device until cleared by the user or the browser.
Published articles and commentsKept while published. Deletion or unpublishing may leave limited moderation, revision, legal, or backup records where necessary to preserve integrity and resolve disputes.
Security and rate-limit recordsKept only for the period needed to enforce the relevant security window, investigate abuse, or meet provider security obligations.
Support, correction, privacy, and legal correspondenceKept while the request is open and afterwards when needed to document the outcome, a correction, a legal obligation, or a recurring abuse/security issue.
Provider backups and logsMay persist temporarily under Supabase, Vercel, authentication-provider, or email-provider backup and log-rotation policies after the active record is removed.

Data Security

We implement reasonable security measures to protect against unauthorized access or disclosure of information. However, no internet transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your Rights and Request Process

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, export, restrict, or delete personal information. Email hello@fixwise.online with the subject Privacy request.

  1. Describe the account or data involved and the action you are requesting.
  2. We may verify control of the account using the signed-in account or the email address associated with authentication. Do not email passwords, OTPs, or identity documents unless specifically required through a secure process.
  3. We aim to acknowledge requests within 7 days and complete verified requests within 30 days where practicable, unless applicable law requires a different timeline or the request is unusually complex.
  4. If a request cannot be completed as asked, we will explain the reason and the available next step where applicable.

Some records may be retained where required for security, legal obligations, fraud prevention, or dispute resolution.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page with an updated date.
