OE means the washer is not draining correctly. The first fixes are the drain hose and, on models that have one, the drain-pump filter—not a control-board reset.

Check these first

  • Check the drain hose for kinks, compression or freezing.
  • Clean the accessible drain-pump filter if your model has one.
  • Listen during drain/spin: pump hum with no flow is different from no pump sound.

Fix it in this order

  1. Drain residual water safely.
  2. Clean the pump filter and hose path.
  3. Run Spin or Rinse+Spin.
  4. If the pump runs but flow is still poor, inspect the household drain/standpipe and hose installation.
  5. If there is no pump action or OE returns with a clear path, schedule pump/service diagnosis.

Evidence to keep

  • OE code
  • Drain flow during test
  • Filter debris photo
  • Hose/standpipe setup

Do not make it harder

  • Opening the washer while it is full without a safe drain plan
  • Pushing debris deeper into the hose
  • Replacing the pump before proving the drain path is clear

How you know it is fixed

  • A drain/spin cycle empties normally and OE does not return.

If the obvious fix does not work

  1. If water drains when the hose is moved to a lower/open test position but not into the standpipe, the household drain/installation is the likely blocker.
  2. If OE happens only in freezing weather, thaw the hose/washer naturally and prevent refreezing before retrying.

If this still isn't resolved

  1. LG service if the clear drain path still produces OE
