LG washer LE, LE1, or AE error: drum or motor cannot turn normally

LE/LE1 and some AE conditions point to the drum/motor being unable to rotate normally.

Start here

LE/LE1 and some AE conditions point to the drum/motor being unable to rotate normally. Reduce an overload, remove a trapped object and power-cycle; persistent faults need mechanical/motor diagnosis.

Check these first

  • Unload heavy/oversized items.
  • With power off, check for obvious foreign objects around the tub/wash plate where safely accessible.
  • Note abnormal grinding or a drum that will not turn freely.

Fix it in this order

  1. Remove the overload/foreign object.
  2. Unplug for the manufacturer-specified reset period.
  3. Retry with a normal load.
  4. If the motor code returns, service the drive/motor/sensor system.

Evidence to keep

  • Code
  • Load type
  • Any trapped object
  • Whether empty/normal-load test succeeds

Do not make it harder

  • Forcing the drum
  • Repeatedly restarting a jammed motor

How you know it is fixed

  • The drum turns normally and completes a cycle without LE/AE.

If the obvious fix does not work

  1. If the code happens only with one huge item, change the load/cycle rather than replacing parts.
  2. If it returns empty or with a small normal load, treat it as a hardware problem.

If this still isn't resolved

  1. LG service
