- loan sanction and signed agreement naming the borrower;
- institution and course documents showing the higher-education purpose;
- relationship proof when the student is a spouse, child or legal ward;
- lender interest certificate for the exact tax year;
- loan ledger separating principal, interest and charges;
- bank statements showing who paid and when;
- regime comparison and final computation retained with the return records.
If the interest certificate is wrong, ask the lender for a corrected certificate and keep the complaint reference. If the legal eligibility or regime mapping is uncertain, use the Income Tax e-filing portal and a qualified tax professional; a lender can correct its records but cannot decide your tax position.
